Day 3
March 5, 2005

On our way into Atlanta we stopped at Lifetime Bike Shop and Skatepark so Tony could fix his wheel and pick up some new shoes. While we were there we figured riding the little park out back would be a good way to warm up. The ramps and everything were built well, they were just a little close together. Jim fufanu'd and icepicked a nice subrail, and Brett blasted out of the mini ramp. Tony didn't have as good of luck. He turndowned one of the quarters and slid out coming back in. When he did his foot dragged on the floor and bent back behind him. He blew his knee out again. It didn't take long for it to swell up. So from that point on Tony was out.

When we got into Atlanta things got off to a bad start. The first few spots we went to we got kicked out before we even did anything. And before riding any spots at all Brett got a flat tire. And there aren't too many gas stations or air pumps available in downtown Atlanta. While looking for a gas station we did find a nice double kink rail that Troy and Jay both hit. Troy pulled a nice gap over to second stage icepick on it. We were all impressed. But a large part of our time was spent walking around trying to find a way for Brett to fix his tire. And if that wasn't enough, Brett tried to get money from the ATM for food and found out his bank account had been tampered with. He was out of cash and flat broke. We eventually just walked back to the car to fix his tire, and while him, Jay, and myself did that the rest of the group continued on. We met back up with them later at a really good looking rail.

Jon and Casey seemed to be sessioning the rail pretty well, but it was a little dark. Since we were fairly close to the car anyhow, Jay and I rode back to grab the lights. When we got back to the rail there was a cop parked along the street and they were getting kicked out. At least now we'd have the lights for the curved wall, which was next.

The curved wall is the one in Odyssey that Jim C. pedals around and does sit-down no footers on. I know you've seen it. It's a fairly big curved wall, a lot bigger than the famed curved wall at OSU. Jon, Mojo, Jay, and Troy had figured it out and were flyin' around it. And in no time Troy was pedalling around it and takin' his feet off. On one run Mojo sat on his bike in the middle of it as Jon pedaled around him. The next time Jon came around Mojo was completely naked and standing in the middle. I guess Tony dared him to, and it didn't take much coaxing. It was a pretty hilarious note to end the night on.

Brett throwin' a table into the wind, seriously, it was really windy.

Tony's knees after his mishap at Lifetime Skatepark. Blown out.

Downtown Atlanta 70 degrees and sunny. It was probably 20 degrees and snowing in Ohio when this was taken.

This rail slid really slow, but Jay got it done.

We stayed at this spot for quite awhile, and the property owner was sitting in his car right next to us the entire time. He said he enjoyed watching us. It's not often that you find spots like that.

Troy Merkle, gap over to icepick.

Casey Longshore gettin' it done.

The rail was a little slow at first so Jon dug through the dumpster to fix the problem.

The soda cups work. Jon Bechtold.

Mojo doesn't use or believe in toilets. I think he took a piss in every alley and bush that Atlanta had to offer.

The group hangin' out by the "Biz ledge" from the System video, just after Troy bow-legged feeble grinded it.
