Georgia Road Trip March 2006

DAY THREE: Sunday, March 12th
For Sunday we had hopes of making it to Atlanta somewhat early so we'd have lots of daylight to ride, but everyone was up pretty late the night before. I think we finally made it to Atlanta around 3:30 in the afternoon.
If you've never been to Atlanta you're missing out. ATL is a wild city, and there's a lot to ride. While Jon and I were at one spot some kook off the street in a trench coat approached me and told me that he had just graduated from the government Star Wars program. He went on to tell me that he was an admiral in the secret service fleet, and he just wanted to make sure we were doin' alright. After his introduction he told us to take care of ourselves and walked away. Kooky but interesting none the less. Anyhow, we rode most of ATL and packed up around 9:30 in the evening and hit the road. We made a stop in Chattanooga on our way back and rode the infamous "aquarium spine" as well as a few other spots. We finally made it back to Dayton around 8 o'clock Monday morning, but it was a struggle staying awake. Ask Jon about that one.

Second stage crook! Casey and Jon were killin' this rail, but unfortunately this is the only picture from this rail that Troy was able to salvage, the rest were ruined.

If you ride flatland and are ever in ATL, chances are you can meet up with some people at the parking lot behind The Varsity.

Casey crooked grinding up a downhill ledge to up rail set up.

This rail was too good to be true for the left side grinders. Troy smith grinding it.

Gremlin with a gap to smith before we got the boot from a security gaurd.

This rail is a lot harder than it looks. But Tony pulled it like a champ after a few tries, then proceeded to turn the corner and grind to hop over another rail into a grass bank.

I really need to do a better job at focusing when I shoot photos. Tony barspinnin' in Chattanooga.

Turndown by Cherry Bomb.

Troy and Tony were havin' a blast riding this thing like a quarter. Downside whip by the Merk-Man.

Between my out of focus shots and half the roll of film we lost, our coverage of this road trip is top-notch. The Merk-Man with a toboggan.

Turndown over the gap.

The Gremlin with a little gap to icepick grind in ATL.
